As organisations grapple with dynamic market changes, leaders are now expected to do more with fewer resources while keeping up with a rapidly changing workplace. To achieve this, leaders need to create an environment with an equal amount of safety and stretch, so the type of workplace workforce where people can thrive.,

This style of leadership is called Transformational Leadership and is critical to the growth of an organisation.

What is Transformational Leadership

By definition, Transformational Leadership is a leadership style which inspires and encourages a team to realise a common goal by raising their morale and self-confidence. The concept was introduced by leadership expert James MacGregor Burns in 1978 in his book ‘Leadership’. Transformational Leadership was defined as a process where leaders and their followers raise one another to higher levels of morality and motivation.

This concept was further developed by Bernard M. Bass in 1985 in his book ‘Leadership and Performance Beyond Expectations.’

According to Bass, a transformational leader is a model of integrity and fairness and gets people to look beyond their self-interest. They set clear goals, have high expectations from teams, and provide support and recognition that inspires people.

Transformational Leaders make individuals feel empowered, making work more meaningful. This is beneficial to the organisation in terms of efficiency and better results and helps develop and retain talent.

Transformational Leadership and Multipliers

The pandemic has accelerated changes in how we work, driven a shift in HR trends, and impacted human resources. In this constantly evolving scenario, organisations need leaders to not just be smart but harness the smartness around them. There is a need for teams to be agile and efficient more than ever before.

At Biz Group, we help organisations tackle these challenges with Multipliers Leadership Development. The underlying principle between Transformational Leaders and Multipliers is the same – inspire teams to become the best versions of themselves and work collaboratively instead of working in silos to achieve a common goal.

While Transformational Leadership inspires the team’s morale and self-confidence to get better results, Multipliers Leadership goes a step further and unlocks individual potential. Multipliers is not just a leadership style; it’s a mindset. It’s the way leaders interact with teams to amplify intelligence and bring out their strengths.

Here’s how Multipliers are able to produce better results with the same resources –

  • Stretching capabilities and holding team members accountable for results
  • Developing the approach and methodology for robust informed decision-making that accelerates execution.
  • Building a culture where everyone can provide their highest point of contribution.
  • Creating platforms for discussion that leverage intelligence across the organisations
  • Exposing the blind spots in a safe environment and providing a language and tools for workarounds

In the current scenario, most organisations do not have the luxury of adding or transferring resources to tackle major challenges. Instead, they must develop capabilities within existing teams. The ability to amplify the intelligence that already exists in the organisation is a skill that separates good leaders from great leaders. Great leaders who are Multipliers.

At Biz Group, we have partnered with The Wiseman Group to deliver Multipliers Leadership Development Training across the Middle East since 2011, helping leaders inspire employees to stretch themselves to deliver results that surpass expectations.
